2020 Le Mans Results: A Thrilling Race to the Finish

Toyota Dominates LMP1, while Aston Martin takes GTE Pro

The 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans race was filled with twists and turns. Toyota Gazoo Racing dominated the LMP1 class, taking the top three positions, while Aston Martin Racing took the victory in GTE Pro.

After a tumultuous race, the WEC field took the green flag on the Circuit de la Sarthe on September 19th at 2:30pm local time. The #7 Toyota Gazoo Racing entry, driven by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, and José María López, took the early lead.

The race was a battle of attrition, with several cars suffering mechanical problems. The #1 Rebellion Racing car, driven by Bruno Senna, Gustavo Menezes, and Norman Nato, was the first to fall victim to the unforgiving track. The car suffered a rear suspension failure on lap 72. The #17 SMP Racing car, driven by Egor Orudzhev, Sergey Sirotkin, and Stéphane Sarrazin, also retired with a mechanical problem on lap 170.

In the end, the #7 Toyota Gazoo Racing car emerged victorious, with the #8 Toyota Gazoo Racing car and the #9 Toyota Gazoo Racing car taking the second and third spots on the podium, respectively.
